April 7, 2026 – I did my Taxes!

I wasn’t going to do a post today, but I finished my taxes yesterday, all by myself, and I’m so happy about that. I felt a little guilty about sending them off without Diane’s blessing, but that wasn’t an option. So, I pushed all those buttons and made them go away. Thankfully, before I went to bed, both Federal and State had accepted what I sent so now all I have to do is sit around and wait for the money to disappear from my checking account. That’s a comforting thought.

The sun has been shining bright the last couple of days, and it appears we’re in for another beautiful day. These are the days Max loves to walk about 3 feet into the yard, to the first spot of sunshine, and lay down for a few hours. He’s truly a California dog. Luckily he doesn’t sun burn. I’ve noticed that every once in a while he’ll retreat to the patio, and shade, to cool off a bit, then he’s back in the yard.

Yesterday we had a disturbing visitor that landed in one of the trees across the creek from us where he had a good view of our yard, and Max.

Yes, that’s a real deal Bald Eagle who I think would really like to get close to Max. I dove off that branch as we watched and flew away downstream, about 4 feet off the water. His wing span appeared to be about 8 feet and he was truly majestic as he sailed away. Baylee took this photo for us. So now I have to really monitor Max when he’s outside. Glenn, our neighbor, told us that he’s been hanging around for a long time. He, and his wife Darlene, said they have photos of him taking a bath in the creek, and even saw it catch a fish out there. So, yes, there are fish in Milton Creek.

Now that the taxes are done I can relax a little. I don’t know what came over me to jolt me into action yesterday. That’s so unlike me. But, now I can concentrate on the important stuff in life.

For some reason I also checked my calendar to see if something important was pending and found an entry that required me to take Max to see Dr. Burns for a checkup and some shots. He loves her. She lets him lick her nose,

I need to go grocery shopping today because I ate the last banana this morning. I’m out of my Jimmy Dean breakfast things, too. I had to eat oatmeal this morning which isn’t normal for me. And, I need shrimp. I really like shrimp. If I had feathers they would be pink, I’m sure.

It’s time to wrap this up. Things are getting out of hand. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
